Ayer offers 15,000 titles, mainly reprints of works judged by experts as being worthy of staying in print forever, in all fields. This link takes you to the home page, but I particularly recommend their Afro-American and Women's Autobiographies pages, which I think are particularly valuable as a resource.

Books
I Know Just What You Mean: The Power of Friendship in Women's Lives, by Ellen Goodman & Patricia O'Brien. Goodwin and O'Brien interviewed women from all stages of life, most in longtime friendships, some who became business partners, others in politics, others who have watched each other progress out of welfare dependency, and famous friendships to examine the nature of friendship among women, the unspoken competition they experience, and the empowering effect of friendship.

Woman: An Intimate Geography, by Natalie Angier, a Pulitzer-Prize winning science writer. If you've had it with the multitude of damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't analyses of the female, check out this book that unabashadedly celebrates womanhood. Brain food that will give any thinking woman a high.
